My wife & I were looking for church to get our son baptized (photo) this past summer. Since my wife is Episcopal and we were married in an Episcopal church, that is where we started our search. We found Emmanuel in late August and it was within walking distance from our home (bonus). It only took one service to sell us that this was the church for us.
Father Brian – having a dynamic, engaging, energetic, compassionate, & relevant pastor is very important to our church experience.
A small family oriented congregation was another selling point – we did not want to just be a number in a big church – as in Cheers “a place where everyone knows your name”.
Child friendly – having an infant, it is very refreshing to have the congregation so welcoming of our son being a part of the service (crying kids is ok).
Community involvement – now that we are starting a family I feel it is important to become a part of our community & being part of a local parish is a great place to start.
