Three
things I look for in a church:

> Community in Christ
> Mission
> Pastor
Why Emmanuel fits me:

Emmanuel, whilst a small parish, has always been very active and
supportive to all our parishioners. It has been a very interesting
growth experience for
Emmanuel over the last few years, and I believe that even though
we see many
parish families move to the suburbs we continue to have a very
strong
presence as a bridge church in West Roxbury- Roslindale.
I am always thrilled to see old friends visiting
us.

Three
things I look for in a church:
 > Pastor
> Small Congregation
> Location
Why Emmanuel fits me:

My wife & I were looking for church to
get our son baptized ( )
this past summer. Since my wife is Episcopal and we were married in an
Episcopal church, that is where we started our search. We found Emmanuel in
late August and it was within walking distance from our home (bonus). It only
took one service to sell us that this was the church for us.
Father Brian – having a dynamic, engaging,
energetic, compassionate, & relevant pastor is very important
to our church experience.
A small family oriented congregation was another
selling point – we did not want to just be a number in a
big church – as in Cheers “a place where everyone knows
your name”.
Child friendly – having an infant, it is very
refreshing to have the congregation so welcoming of our son being
a part of the service (crying kids is ok).
Community involvement – now that we are starting
a family I feel it is important to become a part of our community & being
part of a local parish is a great place to start.

Three
things I look for in a church:

> A message of hope
> A community that represents
what
faith is
> Being part of something bigger
and more important than me.
Why Emmanuel fits me:

When I came to Emmanuel for a Sunday service, I was in search of
a church that was comforting and shared my beliefs.
I wasn’t even sure what those beliefs were—but I wanted
a church that gave hope and cared for people spiritually. When
I heard Fr. Brian’s sermons,
the journey I was on started to make sense. I felt as if I’d
found a place that was a “big tent” with room for everyone.
