Three
things I look for in a church:

> A place where our son will be
nurtured,
happy, grounded.
> A community to get involved with.
> Sensory stimulation (I'm a visual
person, and tend toward the visceral appeal of old, stone churches).
Why Emmanuel fits me:

After being here less than 2 months, a long time parishioner said
to me, "you're here more for the coffee hours than the
services, aren't you?" The way she just said it made me
laugh, but she was partly right - or maybe mostly right. I've
never felt that all the tenets of a formal
service were necessary to feed the spirit, so I was looking
for a church that was attached to a great community. We'd tried
several.
My first time 'scouting' Emmanuel, the overall experience
felt anything but routine. And it caught me by
surprise that I was moved by the sermon. Then the people I spoke
with afterward just felt genuinely friendly and natural
- more so than some welcome committees we'd experienced elsewhere.
So we all came back, and came again... And now my wife, our 3yr
old son, and I, all look forward to coming and growing in these
surroundings. For me, a big part of that will be the community
aspects, but Fr.
Brian's sermons, also continue to surprise and inspire me.

Three
things I look for in a church:

> Spiritual comfort
> A welcoming community
> A place where I could experience
God's love
Why Emmanuel fits me:

What brought me and my dog to Emmanuel was the blessing of the
animals, Feast of St. Francis. My life had changed in a big
way and I was looking for a place where I could find peace
and comfort. I found just what I was looking for at Emmanuel.
It was the right place at the perfect time.
A door was opened and when I walked inside, I was welcomed and
given kindness. Some people come into our lives and leave footprints
on our hearts.
If you want to experience God's love, come to Emmanuel.
